Our Commitment to Accessibility
MHC Information Services, LLC (MHCIS) is committed to making its website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is part of how we design and build: we treat it as an engineering requirement, not an afterthought, and we work to improve the experience continually.
This statement describes the accessibility of the MHCIS website at https://mhcis.com, the measures we take, where we currently fall short, and how to reach us for help.
Measures We Take
We work to make our website accessible by design. Our practices include:
- Accessible by design. Accessibility is considered during design and development rather than retrofitted afterward.
- Semantic HTML. We use semantic HTML for document structure, with headings, landmarks, and lists that convey meaning to assistive technologies.
- Keyboard operability. We build interactive elements to be operable by keyboard, with a logical focus order and visible focus indicators.
- Reduced motion. We respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting so that people who ask their system to minimize motion see reduced or removed animation. - Color and contrast. We target WCAG Level AA contrast ratios for text and meaningful interface elements, and we avoid relying on color alone to convey information.
- Self-hosted fonts. We self-host our fonts, which reduces third-party dependencies and supports consistent, readable text rendering.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. We describe the known gaps below and are working to close them.
For visitors in the European Union, this approach is broadly aligned with EN 301 549, which incorporates WCAG as its technical baseline for web content.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content on this website has known limitations. We list them honestly, with the reason and a workaround, and we are working to resolve them:
- Entrance animations. Some entrance and scroll animations are still being tuned for reduced-motion behavior. If motion is a barrier, enable your operating system's reduced-motion setting, which this site honors; you may still notice residual motion in a few places while we finish this work. If you encounter a problem, contact us and we will assist.
- Long-form legal pages. Some long-form legal and policy pages are still being tuned for contrast and consistent structure. If any passage is hard to read, contact us using the details below and we will provide the content in a more accessible form.
Feedback
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter a barrier or need content in an alternative format, please let us know:
- Email: contact@mhcis.com
- Phone: +1 803-881-3889
- Address: 1325 Park Street, Suite 200, Columbia, SC 29201
When you contact us, it helps to include the page or feature involved, the assistive technology you were using (if any), a description of the problem, and your preferred way to be reached.
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days. This is a target, not a guarantee; some issues that require technical investigation may take longer, and we will keep you informed if they do.
Compatibility With Browsers and Assistive Technology
This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of widely used web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on both desktop and mobile devices. It is designed to work with common screen readers and other assistive technologies, such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
Accessibility may be reduced on older browsers or assistive technologies that do not support current web standards.
Technical Specifications
Accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies to work with your browser and any assistive technologies you use:
- HTML for structure and semantic markup
- CSS for presentation, layout, and motion preferences
- WAI-ARIA for accessibility information where native HTML semantics are not sufficient
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standard referenced above.
Assessment Approach
MHCIS assesses the accessibility of this website using the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation. We review our own pages and components against WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Automated testing. We use automated tooling, including axe, to scan for accessibility issues as part of our development process.
Automated testing catches many issues but not all of them, which is one reason we invite feedback and treat this statement as a living document.
Statement Scope and Review
This statement applies to the MHCIS website at https://mhcis.com. We review and update it as the website changes, as we address the limitations described above, and as accessibility standards evolve.
